I stayed at Jill's House by myself, and at first I was a little concerned about the "communal living" aspect. But it turned out that was the BEST part of my stay---making new friends and having people to talk to who understand your situation. |

We liked the friendliness and hospitality of the staff and residents staying at Jill's House. And the convenience of getting to the Proton Center without having to get on busy main roads was priceless. We very much appreciated the availability of a wheelchair and designated handicapped parking space. |

Being at Jill's House made a very difficult time almost enjoyable. I am thankful for the experience of being here and meeting so many extraordinary people. |

Everyone was so kind and assistance was always available - yet we had our privacy too! We would stay at Jill's House again in a heartbeat! |
Adam |
Jill's House is as close to "home away from home" for my family as I could imagine. Great staff, volunteers, facilities and atmosphere; and the weekly donation of Panera bread was a big plus, too. |
A.S. |
Jill's House was such a blessing and exactly what we needed while our daughter was going through cancer treatment. The people were friendly and the facility was incredible! |
Dave |
The only suggestion for improvement that I can come up with would be to arrange for some warmer weather in December. :-) |
Tina |
I really liked the fact that there was so much for my son to do. Enjoying the playground and playroom and Wii Sports games helped keep his mind off of worrisome things. |
Stan |
What I liked most about the House: #1 the fireplace #2 kitchen facilities #3 spacious rooms with high ceilings #4 laundry facilities #5 close proximity to treatment. |
Judi |
As I'm sure many people do, I came with mixed emotions. (My husband was the one being treated, but I also needed to be in a comfortable place.) We both ended up being very pleased with Jill's House. We found everything we needed and feel blessed to have been able to stay there. |
Norm |
My thanks goes to the founders, contributors, board, staff and volunteers. You have created a home away from home and are helping many people to make the best of stressful situations. |
Joyce |
Nice facility, great location, very clean and very friendly staff. Having so many things provided by Jill's House made it much easier on us caregivers. The only thing we had to concentrate on was the person getting treatments. |
Nancy |
We found Jill's House to be well run, clean, secure and comfortable with a friendly staff. Things worked as described; communal opportunities abound but privacy is respected; guests can come and go easily. It's a NICE PLACE, the product of lots of work we never see. |

As the husband of a MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) patient, I can honestly say that the staff at both Jill's House and MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) were the best service providers I have ever worked with in the 40 years of my working life. I thank MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) for my wife's remarkable recovery; but it was Jill's House that made the 8 weeks a great experience. |
Ned |
Jill's House truly is the gold standard for this type of facility! What I appreciated most was the comfort, safety, pristine condition, sociability and support. |
Michael |
Jill's House was truly my Home away from Home. It really made my weeks of treatment so much more enjoyable. My children loved to come visit me here. The cleanliness of the facility and all staff and volunteers were exceptional. In some ways, I am actually sad to leave... |
Jackie |
What we liked most about Jill's House was the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the cleanliness of the facility. Another patient told me that he felt his experience here had helped to cure him as much as his treatment at MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center). |
Cheri |
We really liked how quiet and peaceful the House and the surroundings are. And we loved watching the deer out the windows. Being at Jill's House took a lot of stress off of our difficult situation by having caring people around and a comforting place to stay. |
Karl |
Jill's House was there for me when I was at my lowest point. Everyone was just wonderful. The staff was very professional yet very caring about my needs and others. |
Tom |
I considered the proton facility in Jacksonville as well as MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center). But Jill's House made this place superior in every way! |
Natalie |
I was extremely impressed by the strides the staff and volunteers took to make sure that Jill's House was spotless. The staff was excellent; always supportive and helpful when needed. |
J.B. and F.B. |
Our stay at Jill's House is now one of our most treasured memories. The staff, volunteers, residents, and all the techs at MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) have shown us they truly care about people coping with cancer. |
Ken |
Love this place!! Thanks, Jill's House, for making life a little easier during my time of crisis. |
Jim |
I had planned on getting my proton therapy at another treatment center closer to where we live; but I chose to come to MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) in Bloomington because of Jill's House! |
Peter |
Jill's House has been like one big family and a place you can call "home". I really have no idea why anyone would wish to stay elsewhere. |
C.A.S. |
My family met a lot of wonderful people and made many new friends. Jill's House is a great atmosphere to be in, with a home away from home feeling. |
A.R. from Chicago |
All of the staff are kind, loving and professional. I have had a wonderful time here at Jill's House, and I'll miss everyone. |
Bonny |
I would not have gotten my proton treatment if it wasn't for Jill's House. Thank you! |
Carole |
We especially enjoyed the treasure-trove of the wonderful playroom when our grandchildren came to visit us at Jill's House. |
Tonya |
The staff makes you feel so comfortable right away that you automatically get that "home away from home" feeling. I felt completely safe here with my 7 year old daughter. |
D. Q. |
What a well-designed program and facility. Keep up the good work! |
Stephen |
The home-like comfort I found, and the fond memories of all the events, will last a lifetime. There are definitely angels at work in the healing process at Jill's House. |
Connie |
I most liked the hopitality and the friendliness of all the people at Jill's House. Although I missed home, this has been like a "family" where all the guests are sharing a common bond. What a wonderful tribute to Jill Behrman and to the Bloomington community. |
R.C. |
The proximity to MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) is awesome. Even in the worst of winter cold and snow, the guests at Jill's House never had to miss a treatment appointment due to weather or road conditions. |
Rich |
I came to Bloomington with prostate cancer and emotional depression. MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) took care of the cancer; being with the friendly people at Jill's House helped bring me out of my depression. Keep up the good work. |
A. M. |
Thank you, Jill's House, for providing a safe haven where patients could support, encourage and fellowship with one another while our bodies were being repaired. The work that you do is very much needed, particularly at a time when patients feel as though everything is falling down on their heads all at once. |
Kelley |
Our Jill's House experience will be talked about in our family for years to come because of the awesome job of the volunteers and employees to create a place of "home" away from home.
|
H.P. |
As I sat in the lobby at Jill's House, I read the welcoming message about Care, Comfort and Community...
I have received all three in abundance from all of you at Jill's House and at MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center). |
Jerry |
What I liked most about my Jill's House experience is how quickly this becomes HOME while we are here for our "radiation vacation". |
Jim |
What a blessing Jill's House is to so many of us in need of a helping hand on a lonely journey of fighting cancer. Jill's House is as important to the healing process as the cyclotron pushing all those protons into your body. |
Sal |
I enjoyed the camaraderie, the social interaction, and the hospitality at Jill's House. What a wonderful place to spend what would otherwise have been a 'dark and dreary' time in my life. |
Jim |
"It was the best of times and the worst of times." If anyone that needs treatment at MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) needs a place to stay, they could not find a better place than Jill's House. Although I wish I could have avoided prostate cancer, I am happy with my choice of treatment at MPRI (now IU Health Proton Therapy Center) and my stay at Jill's House. |
L. M. |
Jill's House took what could have been a lonely, perhaps scary, extended stay away from home and turned it into a positive, wonderful experience that I will always remember as a highlight of my life. The residents (who came from all across the country), the staff and volunteers were all so warm and friendly, that at the end of my nine weeks, I found it hard to leave. |
Mike |
This is a wonderful place to stay. Jill's House is a Home, not just bricks & mortar. The staff is top notch and could not have made my stay anymore comfortable and peaceful. |
Ronald |
When I think of a home-away-from-home, Jill's House is at the top of my list. The Behrman Family's dream to create a living testament to their beloved daughter Jill has become a reality that will benefit others for years to come. |
Sara |
A book should be written about Jill's House --- the entire story is not only unique, but uplifting as it depicts the heart of Bloomington and its people. |
Tom |
Jill's House staff and facilities and philosophy were wonderful. But the real power of Jill's House was the opportunity it offered for a live-in support group. |
Treva |
I loved the friendly staff, volunteers, and the wonderful people from all over that we lived and shared with for 2 months. Everyone had the same concerns, but continued to laugh and enjoy each other. |
Lee |
Talking with people from around the country is a great educational experience. I gained so many perspectives that I couldn't get if I was at a facility near my house. I enjoyed my stay here tremendously. |
Guy |
Staying here was an extremely positive experience. I will not forget this and will strongly recommend Jill's House. The 'people' made going through this treatment very special. |
Therese |
We felt safe and comfortable, which was the most important thing to us since we are from out-of-state. The House quickly became Home with all the wonderful people we've met. |
Ed |
The way that Jill's House is arranged - private rooms, shared kitchens and common dining area - provided me with just the right balance of private time and social interaction.
|
Randy |
What we liked most about our Jill's House experience was the beautiful and comfortable warmth of the House and the Staff. |
Loyd |
It was almost worth getting prostate cancer to meet all the wonderful people at Jill's House! |
Emmett and JoAnn |
The atmosphere at Jill's House is very conducive to the healing process. The staff and volunteers are the best. We certainly felt that we were at home away from home. |
George and Meda |
Jill's House is a wonderful place to live. It definitely was our "home away from home"! We'll always cherish the memories and friends we were blessed with while here. |
Jillanne |
The staff and volunteers have done a great job in creating a supportive and caring environment for patients and their families. |
Kim |
Jill's House was a wonderful experience for me. I could not imagine going through this cancer treatment process anywhere else. The volunteers and staff were great! |
